In a few days Isabelle and Gabriel Kraft will be 1 month old. It is incredibly hard for me to believe this much time has passed since their birth on September 8, 2010 at 4:52-4:53 a.m. Our life has been incredibly busy and I can barely remember the events that transpired yesterday, much less the events of the last few weeks. Moreover, I know we have a lot of friends and family across the country that are anxiously waiting for updates on the health of Isabelle and Gabriel. Now that Isabelle and Gabriel are at two different hospitals, Matt and I have a hard time keeping up with visiting each baby a couple times a day and the daily phone calls from their respective doctors. Consequently, I have decided to start writing a blog on the journey that is raising premature twin babies in the NICU. I hope this blog ends up serving multiple functions: 1) keep family updated on Isabelle and Gabriel’s progress, 2) a therapeutic journal to help us through the ups and downs associated with life in the NICU, and 3) a written documentary of the pitfalls and triumphs of the early years of Isabelle and Gabriel’s life. We hope it is something they can read and reflect upon later in life.
